Monicore

Opportunity

Our primary product relied on small business owners connecting their accounting software before any insights could be generated, creating significant onboarding friction.

While exploring new data sources, our engineering team discovered we could generate valuable insights using transaction data already provided by banking partners. This removed the need for customer onboarding entirely and became the foundation for a new product: Monicore.

Defining the Product

Over several collaborative workshops with engineering, product, sales, and leadership, we defined the first version of Monicore.

Together, we identified three key experiences:

  • A redesigned dashboard

  • An Opportunities page

  • Enhanced customer profiles

Our goal was simple: turn banking data into actionable insights instead of static reports.

Designing for Action

The existing dashboard displayed metrics, but didn't tell bankers what to do next.

I explored multiple concepts before landing on Opportunities—a way to prioritize businesses based on their potential value to the bank. Instead of searching through reports, bankers could immediately identify high-value leads and understand why they mattered.

This concept later expanded into its own feature across the platform.

Iteration

As Monicore introduced new data, we redesigned the dashboard, Insights & Actions, and customer profiles to surface clearer recommendations and richer customer context.

Each feature went through multiple iterations, balancing business goals, technical feasibility, and feedback from stakeholders and banking partners.

Outcome

Monicore shifted Monit from a reporting platform to a decision-making tool.

By removing onboarding friction and presenting opportunities instead of raw data, banks could begin identifying leads immediately and take action with greater confidence.
